We're excited to share a few upcoming updates to Aurora’s Utility Rates and Energy Consumption features that we believe will make your experience more flexible, accurate, and easy to use. As part of our commitment to continuously improving our platform, we've listened to your feedback and identified areas where we can allow for more flexible editing and make features more intuitive.
In this article, we'll walk you through the updates, released July 18.
New Admin Configurations
Energy Optimizations
Unlock whole home proposals with new Energy Optimizations.
A new Energy Optimizations page under the database will allow admins to add any appliance, energy efficiency solution, or other product that will impact a homeowner’s future consumption needs. This new feature will allow your teams to build whole home proposals by incorporating electrification and/or efficiency add-ons into proposals.
Updates to Utility Rates
Project-Level Utility Rate Editing
Fine-tune proposals with project-level rate editing.
For individual projects in Aurora, users will be able to view and edit pre- and post-solar rate details on the Energy Usage page in Sales Mode and the Project Dashboard.
Any changes made to utility rates on the project will not be reflected in the Database. This update applies to any utility rate configured Aurora: Genability, Aurora-provided, and custom.
Updates to Energy Consumption
Updated Energy Usage page
Streamline your workflows with an improved UI for Energy Consumption.
New updates to the Energy Consumption page from the Project Overview include:
- The “Energy consumption” page on the Project Overview will be called “Energy usage”
- The energy usage inputs section will sit above the usage chart
- Appliances will be added to a new “Edit appliances” button at the top right of the Inputs section
- The Usage Details chart will be a stacked bar chart
New Edit Appliances button
Incorporate existing appliances into a new Edit Appliances page.
Instead of adding appliances directly on the Energy Usage page, a new Edit Appliances button will be added to the inputs section on the new Energy Usage page. This will open a new sidebar menu for users to add and configure specific appliances to a homeowner’s project.
Energy Optimizations
Build whole home proposals with Energy Optimizations.
Users will be able to add new “energy optimizations” to individual designs in Design Mode or Sales Mode.
From Design Mode, users will find an updated simulation sidebar, which includes an “Edit energy profile” button. From here, they can add energy optimizations that the admin has configured in the Database. These selections will update a homeowner’s future energy usage needs and impact the target offset for the PV system proposal.
From Sales Mode, users will find a new “Edit energy profile” button on the Energy Usage page. From here, they can add energy optimizations that the admin has configured in the Database. These selections will update a homeowner’s future energy usage needs and impact the target offset for the PV system proposal.

UtilityAPI integration
A new integration with UtilityAPI will allow you to seamlessly pull homeowners’ consumption data into their Aurora project in 15, 30, or 60 minute intervals. Admins will need to connect the integration for users to access this new feature.
