Note: Single-line diagrams are only available to tenants in Europe.
Single-line diagram (SLD) Templates allow your team to standardize how single-line diagrams are created across projects. Admins can build and manage reusable SLD templates, while designers can quickly apply those templates in Design Mode to generate consistent, accurate SLDs without manual rework.
In this article, we’ll cover:
Creating and managing SLD templates
Users with permissions can create and edit SLD templates from the SLD Templates database page.
To create a new template:
- Navigate to Database > SLD templates.
- Click Add SLD template.
- Add and configure SLD components, including equipment, wiring, and annotations.
- Arrange components to define the default structure and layout of the diagram.
- Save the template.
- Toggle the saved template to active to make it available to designers.
Templates can be edited at any time. Changes made to a template will apply to future uses of that template, but will not retroactively update SLDs in existing projects.
Users with permissions can also:
- Duplicate templates to create variations
- Rename templates for clarity
- Delete templates that are no longer needed
Note: Access to modify the SLD Templates database is limited to users with admin permissions.
Using SLD templates in Design Mode
Designers can apply SLD templates directly while working on a project in Design Mode.
To use an SLD template:
- Open a project in Design Mode.
- Navigate to the SLD section.
- Select a template from the available SLD templates list.
- Generate the SLD using the selected template.
After applying, the schematic is populated based on the structure of the template and the project's system data. Planners can then review the diagram and make project-specific adjustments if needed.
Note: Design mode users can select and use templates but cannot create or edit templates. For more details on editing single-line diagrams in design mode, see this article.
