You can upload roof plans to an Aurora project and include them with an Expert Design Service (EDS) request. You can then use the roof plans as a reference when creating the 3D model.
Upload and prepare your roof plans
- Open the project and create a new design.
- In Design Mode, upload the roof plan as a custom image.
- Rotate and position the image so it aligns correctly with the property.
- Scale the image using a known measurement on the roof plan.
- Use the Ruler tool to measure a known dimension.
- Enter the corresponding measurement from the roof plan.
- Adjust the image until it is properly scaled.
- Confirm that the roof plan aligns appropriately with the property imagery.
- Save the design.
Important: Make sure the roof plan is properly scaled before submitting the EDS request. An incorrectly scaled image can result in an inaccurate model. Plans that include dimensions and roof-pitch callouts are especially helpful.
Submit the EDS request
- Return to the Project page.
- Submit an EDS request.
- The uploaded roof plan will be available as part of the request for the design team to reference.
Review the completed model
When the EDS request is complete:
- Open the returned model.
- Compare the 3D model with the uploaded roof plan.
- Review important details such as the roof geometry, pitch, and surrounding obstructions.
If the model is correct, select Accept.
If changes are needed, resubmit the request and provide the necessary corrections. For example, if the roof pitch was not included on the original plans, you can provide the correct pitch when requesting an update.
Once accepted, the completed 3D model will be available in the design along with the uploaded roof plan.
