A custom financier is a financing partner you set up and maintain yourself — one that is not directly integrated with Aurora. Custom financiers let you offer financing from lenders Aurora does not yet integrate with: you create the financier, associate one or more financing products to it, and keep that information current. Once set up, your reps select the financier by name in Sales Mode, just as they would an integrated partner.
Previously, custom financing products were grouped under a single “Aurora Custom Financing” option in the Sales Mode financing dropdown. Now you can organize those products under named financiers and control where each product is available by region. Only account administrators can create and manage custom financiers.

Custom financiers vs. integrated financiers
Aurora supports two kinds of financiers:
- Integrated financiers (for example, GoodLeap, LightReach, and Sungage) connect directly to Aurora. Their products are pulled in automatically through the integration, and reps can often apply for financing without leaving Aurora.
- Custom financiers are not integrated. You define the financier and its financing products manually, and you are responsible for keeping that data accurate. Creating a custom financier does not trigger any integration or connection with the lender — it is a way to model and present their financing inside Aurora.
Integrated and custom financiers are managed separately and do not affect one another.
How to create a custom financier
- Go to Database in the left navigation menu, then select Financing.
- Select the Financiers tab.
- Click + New in the upper-right corner, then select Add financier.
- Enter a Name for the financier (for example, your lender’s name).
- Optionally, enter a Portal URL — the web address reps or homeowners use to reach the financier’s application portal.
- Click Add financier to save.
Your new financier now appears on the Financiers tab. A financier with no associated products will not appear as a selectable option in Sales Mode until you add at least one product to it.
How to associate financing products with a financier
You can associate a financing product with a custom financier either when you create the product or by editing an existing one. Each financing product can belong to only one custom financier.
- Go to Database in the left navigation menu, then select Financing.
- On the Products tab, click Add financing product to create a new product, or select an existing product to edit it.
- On the product’s details page, click Edit in the upper-right corner.
- Use the Financier drop-down menu to select the custom financier this product should belong to.
- Click Save.
On the Products tab, you can group products by financier to see which products belong to each one.
Use the toggle to the left of each product to enable or disable it for your team. Products that are not assigned to a financier remain available as uncategorized custom financing products.
How to set regional availability for financing products and financiers
You can limit a financing product to specific states so it only appears for reps when the project is located in one of those states. This helps keep the financing dropdown relevant to where each product can actually be offered.
- Select a financing product, then click Edit in the upper-right corner.
- Under Availability, click the Regions drop-down menu.
- Search for and select each state where the product should be available. You can select more than one.
- Click Save.
If you leave the Regions field blank, the product is available in all regions. Once you set one or more states, reps will only see the product as an option when the project’s address falls within a selected state.
Regional availability shown for Financiers is derived from the financing products assigned to them.
How custom financiers appear in Sales Mode
Once a custom financier has at least one enabled, assigned, and regionally available product, reps can select it when quoting a project:
- Open a project in Sales Mode and click the Bank icon to go to Financing.
- Use the first (left) drop-down to choose the custom financier by name.
- Use the second (right) drop-down to select one of that financier’s financing products.
Custom financiers appear in the financing dropdown with the custom financing (bank) icon. Reps only see custom financiers and products that are enabled, assigned to their partner, and available in the project’s state. A financier with no associated products will not appear.
FAQs
Can I limit which equipment is available for a custom financier (an approved vendor list)?
Not yet. Approved vendor list (AVL) component filtering — where reps only see panels, inverters, and batteries a financier has approved — is currently available only for integrated TPO financiers (GoodLeap, EnFin, and LightReach). Custom financiers do not yet support AVL restrictions, so reps can select any enabled equipment when a custom financier is chosen. If you need to guide equipment choices in the meantime, you can manage component availability through your Database and partner settings.
Can I set up a lease or PPA under a custom financier?
Yes. You can associate loan, lease, PPA, and levelized PPA financing products with a custom financier. The one exception is prepaid leases and prepaid PPAs, which are not yet supported under custom financiers. In the meantime, you can model prepaid financing using custom loan products — see How to set up prepaid TPO financing for the full workaround.
Does creating a custom financier connect Aurora to that lender?
No. A custom financier is for modeling and presenting a non-integrated lender’s financing inside Aurora. Creating one does not establish a live connection, send any data to the lender, or enable in-app credit checks or applications. Those capabilities are only available through Aurora’s integrated financing partners. You are responsible for keeping a custom financier’s products and terms accurate.
Can a financing product belong to more than one custom financier?
No. Each financing product can be associated with only one custom financier. Products you do not associate with a financier remain available as uncategorized custom financing products.
Why don’t I see my custom financier in Sales Mode?
A custom financier only appears in the financing dropdown when it has at least one financing product that is enabled, assigned to the rep’s partner, and available in the project’s state. If any of those conditions isn’t met, the financier won’t appear for that rep or project. Check the product’s toggle, partner assignment, and regional availability.
